Library Programs!


Kindergarten
In Kindergarten, we focus on the basic
library skills such as:

* book care - how to properly take care of your library books
* using a shelf marker
* how to check out your library books and when to return them
* difference between fiction and nonfiction
* What is a fairy tale and its components
First Grade
In first grade we will focus on expanding our library skills:

* book care
* using a shelf marker
* how the shelves in the Everybody section are layed out
* how books are arranged in the library (using the author's last name)

We will also focus on different authors throughout the year!
Second Grade
In second grade we will focus on:

* what is a genre
* characteristics of several genres along with examples of each (traditional literature, historical fiction, etc.)
* how to use our online catalog to find books
Third Grade
In third grade we will focus on the Bluebonnet Books.  This award is given each year to one book that exemplifies great literature.  It is voted on by 3rd through 6th graders throughout the state of Texas.  In order to vote, a student has to read five or more of the twenty choices and log them on the sheet that I will give out at the beginning of school.
Fourth Grade
