Dear Parents,
Another week is officially in the books!  We had a special visit today with Ranger Warren from the National Forest Service.  He came to tell our 4th graders they will receive a family pass for their entire family to use at any (yes, any!) national forest during the next calendar year. The pass is valued at over $100 and can be used as much as you like!  It will be in your child's Tuesday folder, so please keep an eye out for it!

The kids were excited to pick out their second book club today!  We encourage our kids to use their daily 20 minutes of silent reading time to get a good head start on their book.  They also start their math and writing homework each day in class.  It's our goal for the kids to complete as much work here, and have the opportunity to ask their teachers any questions before they leave for the day.

The year is rolling along and we would love the opportunity to meet with you! Please follow the Sign Up Genius link if you would like to schedule a conference.  If the listed times don't work for you, let us know and we can find a time more suitable to your schedule. We will be hosting additional fall conferences late October.  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c094fa9ac2ca1f58-fall2

Dear Parents,

Wow, so many things are happing and coming up!  Can you believe it is progress report time already?  Please look for the progress report in your child's Tuesday Folder.  There will be a copy to return signed, the other is for you to keep.

We appreciate all the fabulous parent support we have this year!  We want fourth grade to be the best year for our kids.  One way you can help make this happen is by checking over your child's homework and signing their nightly planner.  This will help ensure our kids are always putting their best effort in to their work, both at school and at home.  Parental support is priceless!  Thank you!

Have you checked out Parent Access?  It is an easy way to keep up with your child's grade and avoid any surprises at progress or report card time.  Please let us know if you have any questions on signing up.  You can also get an automatic grade notification email if a grade falls below a certain threshold.  If you ever have any concerns over your child's grades, we are always happy to have a conference either in person or over the phone.  http://conroeisd.net/parents/

Did you know kids have their own math and language arts account on IXL?. This week they worked on decimals in math and plural possessives in language arts.  This is a great website to practice, review, and extend math and language arts skills.  Students may access IXL at home www.ixl.com/signin/bushelementary using their username and password in their BOB.

As part of our math textbook adoption, your child has full access an online textbook version of Pearson enVision Math.  It is the exact book they have at school, and some homework will be taken from these pages.  We love that it allows for you to see what your child is learning, the language being used, and how curriculum is sequenced.  If your child ever needs extra practice or review, the online book a great resource for practice pages.  You will find all of their log-in information in next weeks Tuesday folder.

A few things to put on the calendar.  The Fourth Grade group picture will be on September 26 and will be picture that is in the front cover of the yearbook!  Order forms will be in the Tuesday Folder.  Our symphony field trip is quickly approaching.  Please complete the insurance form on the second page of the permission slip.  We will return those that were not completely filled out.  Thank you for understanding the district requires us to carry that information with us on the field trip.

Phew, that was a lot! Please let us know if you ever have any questions or any additional information!

Dear Parents,

Week 2 is in the books!  We love how our amazing fourth graders are taking to new procedures and becoming experts in the ins-and-outs of fourth grade.  We can already tell it is going to be a fantastic year!

We understand life happens and transportation changes are needed.  Would you mind helping us by reminding your child to give us the transportation change when they arrive at school?  Another way to ensure we receive changes is by emailing bush@conroeisd.net before 2:30, and the front office will personally hand us the changes.  We always want to make sure our Bobcats go home safely!

Remember, there is no school on Monday.  We hope you enjoy the long weekend with your family!

The (short!) week ahead:
Math:  We will continue place value comparing and ordering whole numbers, rounding numbers, using money in decimals and place value relationships.  A busy week ahead!  I saw great effort and hard work on the math facts over the last week. Remind your child to study facts when they have a chance.  Please ask them to tell you how much they improved this week. : )
Science: We will use the scientific method and conduct a lab with gummy bears.  Science Test on Friday over Safety, Tools and the scientific method.  Students will use their interactive notebooks for a study guide.  They can bring this home every day.
Language Arts: Kids were extremely excited to receive their first book club today!  Their assigned pages are in their journal and they will receive their first response question on Tuesday.  Please check out the first few pages of their journal as it has lots of information about book club!
