I am so excited to meet you all and I am looking forward to getting to know each and every child. This is going to be a great school year!!!!!!!!!!!!
A little information about your new teacher.......
This is my 19th year of teaching and my 13th year at Bush.
I am married and I have 2 beautiful Fur Babies (see below).
The little Shih tzu is Annabelle and the new addition to our family is Henry the yellow lab (he's not so little anymore).
I was born and raised Aggie ! WHOOP!
I also work at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in my "free time".
I've had many wonderful adventures throughout my life. I've swam with dolphins in Cozumel.
I've fed and played with the penguins at Moody Gardens. I even have some artwork they made me.
I've also had the opportunity to pet a sea lion!
Spring Break flew by and now we are in the last grading period of the school year. We hope you all enjoyed your time off. This week is a quiet week. Report cards go home on Friday. Please sign one copy and return it back to school as soon as possible. This weekend is the Bush Carnival from 11:00-2:00. During announcements the students will get so see some of the baskets that will be in the Children’s Raffle. On Thursday and Friday, the students that purchased tickets for the Children’s Raffle will be able to drop them into the boxes of the items they hope to win. Good Luck!
Also, we have a new student joining our class tomorrow. Her name is Elise and I’m sure that she will fit in well with the other students.
Reading: This week we will read several procedural texts describing how a natural resource is turned into a product. We will read, Peanuts to Peanut Butter, Grapes to Jelly, A Nutty State and Moving Waters.
Writing- We will write and read how to take a Natural Resource to a finished product. We will make a flow chart to show sequence as a group. Later this week, students will work in pairs and create their own flowchart showing how a natural resource is turned into a product.

Social Studies: This week we will discuss Natural Resources.
Math – We will be starting our unit on Geometry. The students will be creating two-dimensional shapes based on given attributes including number of sides and verticies. We will be learning about shapes with sides and vertices up to 12. They will also classify and sort three-dimensional solids, including spheres, cones, cylinders, rectangular prisms (including cubes as special rectangular prisms, and triangular prisms, based on attributes using formal geometric language. Formal geometric language includes terms such as “vertex” “edge” and “face”. Students are expected to classify solids by comparing similarities and differences that support their classification.
This week we will be starting our unit on Plants. The students will identify the basic needs of plants (air, water, nutrients, Sun, space). The vocabulary words for this unit are living, nonliving, nutrients, germinate, seed coat, seedling, cactus.
